Cleansing

What it is all about?
The BIG Spring Cleanse is a week to reboot our system after the winter, getting rid of toxins whilst nourrishing and supporting our organs with electrolytes - the micro minerals that our body needs to keep healthy. The Cleanse is a week-long fast, but don't get scared, we will be drinking freshly squeezed vegetable and fruit juice - plenty of it!
These days, the average person's diet consists 60% of unhealthy sugary/floury foods, 30% of animal fats, 5% of pulses and nuts, and only 5% of fresh fruit and vegetables. By drinking juice, we are introducing a massive amount of nutrients for our body, allowing it to repair and renew its cells, whilst releasing toxins.
The impact of such a deep cleanse is profound on many levels: not only people can experience great physical benefits such as loosing weight, not feeling bloated, and feeling energised, but also feeling emotionally and spiritually empowered and heightened. Many people can initially feel withdraws from sugar, caffeine and other chemicals, resulting in headaches, pain, and even flu-like symptoms - these are actually all great signs that our body is repairing and cleansing and you need to stick with it. Normally by day 3, you start feeling happy, serene, energetic, and cleansed!

The prep
There are a few things that you'll need to do and get ready before your fast. First of all, you'll need a juicer - if you haven't got one already you should consider buying a slow juicer (or masticator) because they extract more juice and they keep all the nutrients fresh, whereas a centrifuging juicer heats up the juice killing some of its micronutrients.
At least 3-7 days before your fast - depending on how long you are planning to do it for - you should cut down on the regular foods, especially all processed food, meat, gluten and dairy. Begin to eat more and more fresh fruits and vegetables. You should also cut out soft drinks, alcohol and nicotine.
The day before you start your fast, stock up on fruit and vegetables to store in your fridge - buy enough to last for about three to five days if you’re fasting that long, don't buy more than that of the it might start rotting and going off. You might want to look at the following link for juice recipes, so that you can plan your shopping list.

The BIG Cleanse - Juicing
Juice fasting is a fantastic way to reboot your system without depleting your body of energy and important nutrients. In fact, fruit and vegetable juices are naturally high in micronutrients (electrolytes) minerals, vitamins and enzymes that help with your body’s rejuvenation process, the juices are assimilated directly into your body without stimulating digestive enzymes.
Juicing also has some very important alkalizing properties, which help to neutralise acidic conditions and the toxins being released by your body.
With organic vegetable juice fasting, you might experience increased energy and surprisingly you might not feel hungry as you can have as much juice as you want - just watch out not to have too many apple or sweet juices and try to opt for green vegetables as much as possible.

Detoxing
Whilst you are fasting, you need to consider that your body will be shifting toxins and you should try and assist your system by doing some detox. Everyone has toxins stored in our body due to contaminants in our food and water, poor exercise habits, processed foods, drugs, medication and exposure to pollutants in our environment. These toxins are normally expelled and secreted by our body, but when we have too many they can start to build up and accumulate throughout your body, causing it to malfunction, and this results in the development of health problems.
During your fast, there are lots of different techniques that you might want to try - these should be party of your life regardless of doing a cleanse, but they are even more important during this time and you can read up about them by following the link below.
