Reflexology for fertility and during pregnancy

Infertility can be an emotionally exhausting, not to mention expensive, condition. 1 in 8 couples (or 12% of married women) have trouble getting pregnant or sustaining a pregnancy: approximately one-third of infertility is attributed to the female partner, one-third attributed to the male partner and one-third is caused by a combination of problems in both partners or, is unexplained.

But according to a growing number of people, reflexology has helped couples conceive and an increasing number of women are turning to reflexology to help them with many aspects of pregnancy and childbirth before going down the medical route.

Because the soles of the feet are like a mini map of the inside of the body they link to our inner organs and systems, including the fallopian tubes and ovaries in women, and testicles, prostrate gland and vas deferens in men. Some points on the foot are associated with a men's sperm and women's eggs production and by manipulating these areas reflexologists can correct the imbalances which can hamper pregnancy.

Reproductive Health Problems

Polycystic ovaries, cervical problems, adhesions (more commonly known as scar tissue), pelvic inflammatory disease, premenstrual syndrome, hormonal imbalances, blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, endometriosis and menstrual problems have all shown improvement from reflexology. Within a few sessions, improved health and wellbeing surface. In order to address fertility health, a reflexology therapist will work through the reflexology points specific to the clients area(s) of health concern, such as the:

  • ovaries

  • lymphatic system

  • immune system

  • uterus

  • circulatory system

  • neurological system (stress, anxiety, depression)

  • endocrine system (hormone balance)

  • liver (toxin release, hormone balance)

  • kidneys (libido, fertility issues)

Reflexology works best when the client also ensures healthy lifestyle habits are in place. These include but are not limited to diet, exercise, relaxation, work/life balance. No two reflexology treatments are the same for each session because the chosen points address the needs of the client on that particular day. Tailored treatment each session helps to ensure greater outcome.

Pregnancy and birth

NaturAlly FED can help women through their pregnancies and is open to receiving referrals from local midwives: reflexology can help with inducing labour as pinpointing the correct pressure points of the feet will stimulate the uterus to contract and can help get things started.
